I finally took a picture of the Mario quilt today. I couldn't get a really good pic of it but you get the idea. Please excuse all the loose threads. ;)
And another view . . .
I really love it. Like I said yesterday I really want to add some borders to make it a little larger. I'm thinking 8" black borders on the left and right and 3" on the top and bottom. What do you think? Will it look okay with smaller borders on the top and bottom? I'd really like your opinion. I've decided to make the binding red. My boy loves red! :)
I got a little frustrated today because I realized that I don't have enough fabric for the borders or the binding so I have to get more. I hate it when that happens. Guess Mr. Mario's gonna have to wait a little bit to get finished. :(

ReplyDeleteI love it! Great job with all those bitty squares. :D I often to wider borders on the sides and it always looks fine to me. :D
ReplyDeleteI love this!! Different size borders are just fin - use this method with panels to fill them out.
ReplyDeleteYour idea for the borders and binding sounds great. Should look lovely when finished. Hugs....
ReplyDeletewow this looks fantastic. can't wait to see it once you have added the borders. hugs
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely awesome!!!! So much love in that quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I don't think I would have the patience to tackle that one, but I love the end result!
ReplyDeleteCool quilt!!
ReplyDeleteI frequently make my borders different widths to make my quilt either longer or wider. People think that's the way it was supposed to look : )
Great Mario Blocks! They look fabulous! And thanks for linking up on Building Blocks Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteOh darn! You have to go shopping for fabric. I wonder what other fabrics you will find, besides the border and binding fabrics. Not sure what I did with the backing/binding fabrics for some mini quilts. I may have to go shopping, too. If we must, we must ; )
ReplyDeletethat is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time! whoop whoop!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is spectacular! So many tiny pieces and it looks so realistic! I love the idea of different size borders and I'm doing the same on a quilt I'm making. I need it longer (but not wider). I think as long as they are different enough in width to look intentional (not 4" and 5", which may just look like you mis-cut), I think it adds great interest to the quilt. Red will set it all off perfectly as the border, too.
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo cool! I was just thinking how handmade gifts are the best. :)

ReplyDeleteCool quilt, Cherise! Whoop whoop!!! And about the borders, I've done several quilts with different size borders on top and sides, and it looks fine when it's done.
