My Favorite Things!

Hello!  :)

I want to share some fabrics I treated myself to a little while ago from The Quilting Bug.

The Pam Kitty Morning Collection by Lakehouse. (At least some of it that is.) I love this collection! It's so bright, soft, inspiring, etc., etc., etc. I purchased it with a specific project in mind but also had to get the kitty panel.

I love kitties! The panel won't work for my project but I'm hoping to have some fabric leftover and will make something with it at that time. And who knows . . . if I don't have enough left I can always get more.  :)

The project I will be using this for is from Hatched and Patched's "Some Kind of Wonderful" book by Anni Downs . . .

"My Favorite Things" is the quilt I'll be making from the book.

I'm doing this through part of a stitch-a-long at www.stitch-a-long.blogspot.com. I discovered it months ago and am now officially part of the stitch-a-long. I'm already behind as it started in December. It took me a while to decide on which fabrics to use. Then I found Pam Kitty Morning and knew I just had to use it.

Here's a closer look at the fabrics I'll be using . . .

and more . . .

and more . . .

and even more . . .

Aren't they awesome! Believe it or not there are actually more prints in this collection. I wish I could have gotten all of them but I had to leave some out. :(  I got so many because I wanted to make sure I had a really good variety from which to choose for this quilt.  :)

For the center applique/stitchery blocks I'm using Kona white. I always use a light fusible batting on the back of these blocks to provide stability for the stitching and to hide the ends, etc. Here they are all cut, marked and ready to go . . .

So far I've got the appliques done on the first row of blocks. Here they are . . .

The pattern called for needle-turn applique but I'm going to do a blanket-stitch applique instead. I love the look of it. I'm using DMC perle cotton for the stitching. Here are the threads I choose to use . . .

I'm hoping to begin stitching these blocks tomorrow. This weekend I'm hoping to get the rest of the applique/stitching blocks ready and then I'll cut all the blocks and strips for the rest of the quilt. I wanted to wait and cut the rest until I see what fabric I'll use on the applique/stitching blocks to make sure the colors blend well and there's a cohesiveness to the quilt. Does that make sense? I hope so!   :)

Until next time . . .

All caught up! :)

Hello!  :)

I finally got a chance to work the embroidery for my Garden Steps Quilt. I was a little behind but now I'm all caught up. Yea!  :)  At least with this project that is.  ;)

Here's the first stichery . . .

And a closer look . . .

I added red roses and a ladybug.  :)

Here's the second stitchery . . .

And a closer view . . .

I added a ladybug to this one too. I think I'm going to add a ladybug to all the blocks. I did notice a big boo-boo on this block when I was taking pictures. Did you notice? The second block should be turned 1/4 turn. The longer red strips should be on top. Oh well. I will need to fix this later. Shouldn't be too hard of a fix just a pain. Next time I will definitely be a little more careful.  :)  The stitching designs only come out every other week so I have a couple more weeks until I see the next one. Now this project can be put aside while I work on a couple more.

Until next time . . .

Swap Blocks

Hello!  :)

I've been participating in a monthly Quilt Block Swap over at Mary Jane's Farm. The theme for February was hearts. This was the block I made for my two partners . . .

This is the block I received from Rebecca . . .

This is the block I received from Toni . . .

I like both of them! Thank you both so much!  :)  They are well done and a great addition to the quilt blocks I've been collecting.  :)

For March the theme is green, gold and good luck. This is the block I made for my partners for March . . .

Of course I had to make a 4-leaf clover! By the time I went shopping for St. Patrick's fabrics they were all gone. Plan B was just to look for green fabrics. I figured one green for each of the clover leafs. The first one I found was the one with the pink and white flowers. I love it! It was then that I knew I'd choose a pink for the background. The pink I found with the white butterflies was perfect! The block was very fun to make. I really like the way it turned out. I think it looks really springy.  :)  I found the pattern for the block here.

I haven't received the blocks from my partners for March yet but I'll definitely share them when I do.  :)

Until next time . . .

Ready for B-I-N-G-O!

Hello!  :)

Hope you're having a good weekend! I am! I'm getting a lot of sewing done. Yea!  :)  Today I actually worked on 3 different projects I have going on. I'll share one of them with you now.

Do you remember that I said I'll be participating in the "May  for Me"? Part of the "May for Me" is a game of B-I-N-G-O.

The other day I gathered my fabrics together to make the card.

I managed to cut and sew the squares together on Thursday. Then I had to decide on how I wanted to do the lettering. I thought about embroidering it. Then I decided to just applique the letters. This is what I came up with.

I'm really happy with how it came out.  :)  I think the black polka dot really sets it off nicely. I added the colored blocks below the letters to set of the columns. I really think it adds a lot to it. What do you think?

Until next time . . .

I'm Going to Play B-I-N-G-O!

Hello!  :)

I've been seeing a lot of B-I-N-G-O cards around blogland lately. Have you? At first I just kept passing them over but then my curiosity got the better of me. I had to investigate and find out what was going on. What did I find out? Well . . . It all has to do with . . .

Marcia over at Marcia's Crafty Sewing & Quilting Blog is sponsoring a "May for Me Celebration". Basically it's all about taking time for yourself (May for Me!). You can go here to find out all the information. Her blogger friend, Tonya at Hillbilly Handiworks hosted it with her last year and will also be hosting it this year along with Vrooman's Quilts and Lily Pad Quilting. B-I-N-G-O is part of the May for Me.

You can go here to Hillbilly Handiworks to find out all the info on playing B-I-N-G-O. There you can find all the rules, prizes, a B-I-N-G-O card tutorial and even some FAQ's. After I found out what all this was all about of course I had to participate!  :)

Luck has it that I just received 112 "I-SPY" charm blocks last week as part of two swaps I participated in. Here they are with some of my favorites at the top . . .

Today I went through them and picked out the squares I want to use to make my B-I-N-G-O card.

Now all I have to do is cut them up and sew them all together then I'll be ready to play B-I-N-G-O along with the rest of you!  :)  So are you going to play with me?

Until next time . . .

Remember this pile of cut fabric?

I've turned it into this . . .

12 beautiful blocks of Ruby goodness! I love Ruby! I actually only got 6 of the blocks done on Friday night, but I was able to finish up the other 6 today.  :)  Now I'm ready to begin the embroidery on the center squares. Only 1 design has been released so far so I'm not too far behind. I can't wait to get started on the embroidery.  :)

Until next time . . .

A Little Bit of Everything to Catch Up...

Hello!  :)

I'm still sick. Can you believe it? I can't. I'm just finishing up the antibiotics for the sinus infection, that's still here. My son's been sick all week so I've been taking care of him. Now on top of my existing sinus infection I've caught my son's cold as well as some other health issues going on. Will it ever end? I sure hope so! I'm still trying to get things done here and there but it's hard to concentrate.  :(

I hate the fact that I'm neglecting my blog. I'm going to do my best to try to keep up with it as I get joy from the sharing and caring that comes with it.  :)  Please bear with me.

Look what I got in the mail last week . . .

Yes those are two charm packs of the upcoming Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille for Moda! Plus a charm pack of Summer Breeze II by Sentimental Studios for Moda. I couldn't resist! I love all of Bonnie & Camille fabrics and couldn't wait to get my hands on some of this! Now I just have to decide what to do with it. As for the Summer Breeze II . . . I've been eyeing this collection for awhile now. I have a few vintage sheets I've collected in these exact colors that will go well with it. These are definitely nice additions to my growing fabric collection.  :)

Last week I received this wonderful book . . .

I won it over at A Quilting Life blog. It's even signed by the authors . . .

How cool is that?!!! Thanks Sherri!  :)

Beginning tomorrow I'm participating in another Blog Hop Party with Giveaways, sponsored by Michele over at The Quilting Gallery to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Come back here on Saturday to see what I'm giving away and enter for a chance to win.  :)

Tomorrow night is this month's Friday Night Sew-In. Have you signed up to participate yet? I have!  :)

I'm hoping to be able to work on this . . .

I'm a little behind already but hoping to get caught up quick. Last week I did manage to take these beautiful Ruby fabrics . . .

And cut them into strips ready to piece together.

I even got the white center squares all ready to go. So I'm planning on getting the 12 blocks put together Friday night during the sew-in. Wish me luck!  :)

Until next time . . .
